Congratulations, you found my page! I figured if the DJ's can have a page, then why can't I? So... How about some info on me? My name is Joe Pagano, and I've worked for 106.5 The Fox since day one... back in the day I used to just produce the commercials, but then in early 2007 i became the program director... My favorite classic rock band is Pink Floyd, followed by Led Zeppelin, The Doors, & The Rolling Stones. I also have a fond appreciation for bands like Black Sabbath, The Who, Rush, and even Jethro Tull - I think these bands have some amazing music. Speaking of music, I've been around it all my life... I've worked for various music stores up here, I've played in several bands, and many years ago i even went to school for recording engineering. So ya, my whole life is basically music... (oh and the guitar in the background on the Fox site is my old (barely functioning) Strat...)
3 MOST EPIC SONGS OF ALL TIME: (in my opinion, and we know what opinions are like....)
1. Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
2. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
3. Eagles - Hotel California
(honorable mention to Freebird... )
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1. Do you love your job? Yes, i wouldnt be here if i didnt. but its not all fun and games here. this is actually a job... an unusual job, but a job nonetheless...
2. Are you on the air too? No, i have a horrible radio voice, and i wouldnt want to torture our audience...
3. Why do you play so much Led Zeppelin? Because its Led Zeppelin, the biggest classic rock band of all time... come on! No really, we actually play more Stones than Zeppelin, believe it or not...
4. Why do you play Elton John? There was a time when Elton John rocked, and we like to remember that time...
5. Why don't you play bands like Slaughter, Warrant, etc? Because these bands are cheesy! haha. we already play some Def Leppard, Whitesnake, and Bon Jovi... isnt that good enough?
6. Why don't you play harder bands, like Metallica? We do play some hard stuff, but too many other stations around here already play the heck out of Metallica... plus the era they were popular in (the late 80's and early 90's), is about the cut-off for the music we play. Believe me, I think "One" is one of the best songs made by anyone ever, but i don't see that song meshing well with the other stuff we play... unfortunately...
7. How do you decide what gets played and how often? programming music on a radio station is almost an art form. there are many things to consider. on one hand you have people that listen every day all day, and on the other hand you have people that only listen from time to time... so you have to figure out how to please both types of people. when the person that only listens from time to time tunes in, there has to be some familiar music for them or they wont continue to tune in from time to time... but at the same time, the person that listens every day all day has to have some variety. so my job is to find that perfect balance, to keep both types of listeners tuning into The Fox. For those that only listen from time to time, we make sure the more popular songs are there for you when you tune in, and for the people that listen every day all day, we try to throw in some less played songs now and then so you can have some variety. also for you people that listen every day all day, you are well aware of what we do on tuesdays.. 2-Fer Tuesday! 2 songs back to back by your favorite artists... the first song is usually the bigger hit, but with the second song we usually dig to find something you dont hear too often on any station... well that about sums things up. i hope this book i just wrote helps explain why we do things the way we do. and as always, thanks for listening to The Fox!
